Mechanism of Action of Provera 10mg Tablets (Generic Medoxyprogesterone)
Medroxyprogesterone mainly binds to the progesterone receptor and diffuse freely into target cells in the female reproductive tract, mammary gland, hypothalamus and the pituitary gland. After binding to the receptor, it slows the frequency of Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus and blunts the pre-ovulatory LH surge.
Dosage Regimen of Provera 10mg Tablets (Medoxyprogesterone 10mg)
The daily dose of Provera tablets for Secondary Amenorrhea is 5 or 10 mg daily for 5 to 10 days. The recommended dose of Provera for abnormal uterine bleeding is 5 or 10 mg daily for 5 to 10 days, which should be given on the 16th or 21st day of menstrual cycle. The dose recommended for the reduction of endometrial hyperplasia in postmenopausal women is 5 or 10 mg daily for 12 to 14 consecutive days per month with 0.625 mg conjugated estrogens.

- Do not use Provera 10mg tablets if you are a pregnant woman or have a suspected pregnancy.
- If you have a known liver impairment or disease, heart disease, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, low levels of calcium in your blood, kidney disease, migraine headaches, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes, recent miscarriage or abortion and a history of stroke or blood clot, then do not use Provera.
